it's a bird, it's a plane

This dolly bed was my sister's and mine when we were little.

Cooking up some lemonade for Melly.

One of the funniest part of potty training had been when Poppie inspects her poop, and gives us the report of what it looks like. One time, she exclaimed with delight, "it's twirly, Mommy!" and today she reported, "it's an airplane!" We're waiting for a monkey to come out of her butt.

In other news, it my efforts to make our small living room more adult-friendly, we moved a lot of P's toys up to her room and made a play house. It's adorable - she's been up in her room all morning feeding Blue's Clues gummy bears and baby food. The little jars my face cream comes in makes perfect play baby food jars. She answers the phone with a "Hello", and "How are you doing in there?" I wonder if she thinks Gigi or Grampa are inside the phone.

Every day is a new adventure. Oh, and please let me know if this movie works. Our computer is ancient, and it's reealllyy slllooooowww to download anything, and I'm not sure if it will be a fluid playback.

Translation: Hello Grampa. Hello...

Translation: What is he eating?

Some car soup. And I have to scrape it down and wipe it on the ground.

What's in the little jar?

Some gummy bears.

picnic in the park

Here we go, all bundled up to ride to the park.

Wee!!

Applesauce for everyone.

What a nice string of warm days we are having. The snow is visibly melting, and there are some buds on the crocuses and daffodils. I'm so happy to ride my bike again. I was waiting until all the icy patches were gone from the bike path. Poppie is learning how to ride her bike too. She pedals for a short while, then gets off to run and play.

room to grow

My mom spearheaded a sewing project while we were visiting, a growth chart! Isn't it lovely? Here Cody demonstrates that we have lofty ambitions for his and Poppie's growing.

sunny love

Poppie and her friend Eli are letting the sun warn their muddy bodies. If you look close, you'll see they cheer for opposing baseball teams, yet they love each other. The world really is a beautiful place!

spring in the mountians

Today was warmish day. Actually, it was probably cold, but felt warm to us. It was so nice to hang out outside. Especially for Little Guy - perhaps his first time sitting on Colorado soil.

at the beach

One evening we went down to Honeymoon Beach. It was warm - maybe 75 degrees outside, and the water wasn't much cooler. It had rained the night before, so there were millions of cute little perfect shells.

All a two year old needs to be happy is a small plastic shovel. Oh, and as far as Cody is concerned, sand is good roughage for a baby, right?

Breakfast time!

We love Perkin's Family Restaurant. Have you tried their muffins?

Grampa's chair

I still have a hard time getting a picture of these two smiling at the same time. This was the best I could do.

baby wearing

Since we've been down in Florida I've seen only one or two other babies being worn. At the mall we saw millions of four and five year olds being pushed around by mothers with cell phones glued to their heads. Is that fun? Granted it was the mall, not knows for it's recreational options for young children, but even the playground every baby less than a year old was snugly tucked away in those car seat stroller things. Crazy. I have to build up Poppies stroller to get her in it so I can go for a run or walk to town (6 miles round trip). "Whoo Hoo! It's a stroller ride! Go get Cowie!!"

I wear Cody all the time in an Ergo Carrier. In my experience it's the best one out there. We can zip in and out of shops, push Miss P on the swing, run around in the yard and even nurse - but only in dire situations. I love it, and if you or someone you know is needing a carrier, I recommend this one. It fits Poppie too, she'll ride in it this summer on long hikes. It can be worn on the front or back, and has a sleeping hood for head support if the child falls asleep.

on the go

Little guy has really gotten the hang of the crawling thing. Poor Poppie can't get away from him quick enough, he just loves her so much! He showes his love by grabbing her toys and her hair.

sharing a bed

Cody wole up this morning at 4. I tried to be aware enough to keep him on the bed with me while I kept my eyes closed and pretend to be asleep. A million times I reminded myself to trim his razor sharp talons when we got up. Is my face bleeding from his game of nose grab? At one point I thought I was going to have to call someone to come with scissors to cut him from the tangle he crawled into in my hair. But at 6am I gave up and turned on the light when he gave me warm slimy mouth to nose resuscitation.

ah... the joys of parenthood.

Twinkle Twinkle Grampa Star

Poppie's new favorite song is "Twinkle Twinkle Grampa Star". We sing it before she goes to sleep every night. Sometimes we even sing "Grampa Grampa Daddy Star". This morning Miss P was full of joy and danced her praises in the front yard. It will be hard to return to the three feet of crusty old snw in the yard after all this good running around.

We love Gigi

We love Gigi because she always sings to us, plays peek-a-boo, kisses us on the neck and behind the ears, cooks nutritious meals three times a day - every day, sews doll clothes, plays hand clapping games, recites nursery rhymes, and takes Tee shopping.

potty training

Everybody who's been through it tells us potty training takes a lot of patience and a huge sense of humor. We agree. In our home the bathroom is upstairs, so every trip to the toilet involves an urgent exclamation of, "I GOTTA GO PEEPEE!!" and a hurried trip upstairs just to sit on the pot, and maybe or maybe not go.

We are down in Florida visiting my folks. Poppie took it upon herself to introduce Cowie to the toilet. I discovered her little project when I went into the bathroom and found a full roll of toilet paper fluffed up all over the place. And yes, there was pee in the little potty under the mountain of paper. I think Cowie is getting the hang of this.

A tooth for Cody

It's hard to see, but if you look closely through the drool, you can jsut make out a little white tooth down on his lower gum. It was hard work for the little guy. He's been waking up every few hours to remind us that he is in pain. Sad. But is sure is a cute tooth, isn't it?

123 cheese!

One of our favorite games!
