aint no bugs on me

Here is Colorado we are lucky enough to live in a bug-free paradise, with the exception of a few flies. (something funny about flies to fallow) We do, however, have tons of Cottonwood trees. It's called the "June snow" when the cottonwood duff starts to fly. It really looks like snow, and when you're riding your bike you can't open your mouth or it will be full of fluff in no time. The other day at the playground Poppie was having the time of her life dancing around trying to catch "snowflakes". I'll try to remember to take a picture. The streets literally look like there was a massive stuffed animal massacre. It's really something to see.

About flies, yesterday I reached over, without looking, to grab a tissue and caught a fly! I felt like the karate kid. And also, I picked up a dead fly with my toes and kicked it out the door. (while holding both kids) I never knew how handy my long toes would come in until I became a mother.

HAPPY FATHERS DAY

Can you read what Cody's shirt says? (Gene picked it out, i swear)

Gene is celebrating Fathers day weekend by snowboarding. Yep, they opened up the mountain again this weekend. Can you believe it?

you'd wave if i was walking

As a celebration of being done bearing children, I've started running, and have set my goal on running the Golden Leaf, a half marathon that goes from Snowmass to Aspen. All of you that have visited here know that's all uphill. Yes, I might be a little insane. Running pushing 60 pounds worth of kids, plus a jogging stroller is great training. So far so good. This morning we(P,C and myself) ran 5 miles. Just 8 more to go!
An observation I've made is that in general people don't wave to me as I jog by. Maybe they think I'm listening to an ipod, or am deep in thought. (I'm not doing either.) Or maybe I look really intimidating huffing and puffing along pushing two cute little kids. I don't know. But I do know that when I'm walking, most people smile and wave or say hi. Funny.
I try to say to hi to all the people I pass. It's what keeps me going - that and the thought of someday losing that extra hip thing that grew on my legs without me noticing. You know the thing, the bump that is below my real hip that serves no purpose except to make me feel fat when wearing a bathing suit. Oh and the other day, Poppie gave me a hug from behind, and says, "Mommy, you have a wobbly bottom."

garden gnomes

There is an outdoor education song called, Dirt Made My Lunch. Do you know it? Cody added a new verse, dirt is my lunch.

Garden Gnomes

There is now much growing, so the odds are good that my little helpers are actually pulling up weeds instead of the veggies we planted.
