at the beach

One evening we went down to Honeymoon Beach. It was warm - maybe 75 degrees outside, and the water wasn't much cooler. It had rained the night before, so there were millions of cute little perfect shells.
All a two year old needs to be happy is a small plastic shovel. Oh, and as far as Cody is concerned, sand is good roughage for a baby, right?

baby wearing
I wear Cody all the time in an Ergo Carrier. In my experience it's the best one out there. We can zip in and out of shops, push Miss P on the swing, run around in the yard and even nurse - but only in dire situations. I love it, and if you or someone you know is needing a carrier, I recommend this one. It fits Poppie too, she'll ride in it this summer on long hikes. It can be worn on the front or back, and has a sleeping hood for head support if the child falls asleep.

on the go
Little guy has really gotten the hang of the crawling thing. Poor Poppie can't get away from him quick enough, he just loves her so much! He showes his love by grabbing her toys and her hair.

sharing a bed
Cody wole up this morning at 4. I tried to be aware enough to keep him on the bed with me while I kept my eyes closed and pretend to be asleep. A million times I reminded myself to trim his razor sharp talons when we got up. Is my face bleeding from his game of nose grab? At one point I thought I was going to have to call someone to come with scissors to cut him from the tangle he crawled into in my hair. But at 6am I gave up and turned on the light when he gave me warm slimy mouth to nose resuscitation.
ah... the joys of parenthood.
ah... the joys of parenthood.

Twinkle Twinkle Grampa Star
Poppie's new favorite song is "Twinkle Twinkle Grampa Star". We sing it before she goes to sleep every night. Sometimes we even sing "Grampa Grampa Daddy Star". This morning Miss P was full of joy and danced her praises in the front yard. It will be hard to return to the three feet of crusty old snw in the yard after all this good running around.
potty training
Everybody who's been through it tells us potty training takes a lot of patience and a huge sense of humor. We agree. In our home the bathroom is upstairs, so every trip to the toilet involves an urgent exclamation of, "I GOTTA GO PEEPEE!!" and a hurried trip upstairs just to sit on the pot, and maybe or maybe not go.
We are down in Florida visiting my folks. Poppie took it upon herself to introduce Cowie to the toilet. I discovered her little project when I went into the bathroom and found a full roll of toilet paper fluffed up all over the place. And yes, there was pee in the little potty under the mountain of paper. I think Cowie is getting the hang of this.
